I chose this image because in Macbeth, murder is prevalent. The vibrant red color of the fabric that the dagger lies on hints of blood and death. The dagger's blade is sharp and daunting, and it's white color contrasts sharply with the red fabric. The hilt is deep brown with golden streaks in it, and it has a long strip of gold at the top, separating the hilt from the blade. This image reminds me of murder and of cruel intentions, which Macbeth has when he kills those who stand in his way.

I chose this image because in Macbeth, Lady Macbeth sleepwalks and feels guilt for making her husband kill King Duncan. The scenery of this image contains a night sky with stars and a large moon, and a woman is on the roof of a house. Her eyes are closed and she is sleepwalking. This image stood out to me because it is clear that she is about to walk off the roof and die. This event taking place is different than Lady Macbeth's but metaphorically she may feel like she is about to "fall off the edge" because of her guilt.

I chose this image because candles brighten a room and can help one to feel less sad. Lighting a candle can help to ease a person's guilt and in Macbeth, Lady Macbeth has great trouble dealing with her guilt after coercing her husband into murdering King Duncan. This picture is pitch black, and the candle light sheds only a bit of light in contrast to the darkness of the room. This reminds me of Lady Macbeth's failure to ease her guilty feelings which leads to her killing herself.

I chose this image because in Macbeth, the three witches are a vital part to the storyline. This image is three witches who appear to be performing a ritual of some sort. Their surroundings are dark and appears to be dusty or foggy. They are wearing white cloaks. Macbeth is lead into his downfall by the witches, who tell him a prophecy and trick him into thinking that he will have victory in the end. These witches appear just as deceitful and evil as the ones in Macbeth.

I chose this image because it immediately reminded me of Macbeth and frightened me. It is a skull sitting amongst objects that are plain; a vase of some sort, a flower, and torn paper. The skull stands out amongst these objects and is chilling in the way that the empty eye sockets seem to stare off into the distance. The picture is cloudy and looks old. In Macbeth, people are killed and this skull could belong to any of Macbeth's victims, who is now lifeless and haunts the world.

I chose this images because in Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is shown to have bloody hands when she sleepwalks. She tries to wash it off, but it will not go away. Blood can symbolizes the permanency of death, because it can stain. In the picture it is dripping from the hand, and it will leave a mark on the surface that it lands on. Bloody hands instantly makes a person look guilty of murder or extreme violence.

This crown is a king's crown, which symbolizes a powerful king. His subjects listen to and respect him no matter what, and the way that he gets to a result is unknown by the public and thus may be dishonorable or even evil, like Macbeth. The sky is dark and has wispy clouds, and there is a large moon behind the castle. There are many bats flying in the sky, and there are barren and scraggly trees around. The castle is tall and intimidating. This communicates the scary and murderous themes of Macbeth.

I chose this image because a bloody rose symbolizes love that is destructive. Macbeth's wife, Lady Macbeth, emotionally manipulates him into killing King Duncan once she becomes completely power hungry and encourages him to feel the same. His love for her caused him to kill King Duncan. Roses are often given to show love. This rose has been cut by a blade and has blood on it; Macbeth's love has caused him to turn corrupt because he lets Lady Macbeth turn him into a murderer.

The picture is a black and white image of a ghost in a stairway. You can clearly see that the ghost or spirit is translucent and is made of air; they are not a living person. Macbeth hallucinates seeing Banquo because he feels guilty for what he has done, since Banquo was his friend and is now gone. He had went into battle fearless and confident, because the witches had told him that he could not be killed by man born of a woman. Macduff shocks him when he tells him that he was ripped untimely from his mother, and was not born normally from her. He beheads Macbeth and that is the end for him. In this picture, a man is about to behead someone, as he is holding his sword up ready to swing it down.

I chose this image because Macbeth hallucinates and Lady Macbeth is humiliated when they host a banquet. This banquet room is filled with large portraits and fancy wood, as well as expensive carpet and chairs. The table is set, ready for a banquet of important people. Macbeth hallucinates that he is seeing the ghost of his friend Banquo, who he killed and is very frightened. He acts visibly insane to everyone else at the banquet, and Lady Macbeth is extremely embarrassed. His mental state is declining, and he is even losing touch with what is reality. It isn't long before he completely loses it and impulsively kills even more people.

I chose this image because it reminded me of King Duncan. This is a picture of King Edward VII lying dead. Even though he had not been murdered, I can picture him in a bloody scene, with this same lifeless pose. I can picture this because Macbeth murdered King Duncan as he is lying in bed. The picture is in black and white, which makes it creepier and/or more melancholy.

Full moon

I chose this image because I can see this full moon being in the sky on a night of one of Macbeth's murders. Full moons are often associated with strange or insane behavior, which Macbeth surely exhibits as his sanity declines and he spirals into a man whose morals have been blinded completely by his hunger for power. The darkness of the sky contrasts sharply to the bright white moon, which can make one feel uncomfortable as the stark contrast suggests something almost supernatural; as it appears not quite natural. This moon would watch overhead while a maniac carries out murder, simply looking down at it from high above and letting it happen. It can seem almost as though the full moon enjoys evil.

I chose this image because it features witches that appear similar to the way I picture the witches in Macbeth, and they are crouched over a cauldron. From the cauldron a green fog emanates, suggesting that the witches are creating some kind of potion or a witchcraft spell. It is common lore that witches know about people's fates and are also very tricky and mischievous. In Macbeth's case, they tricked him about his fate without even lying. They said that he couldn't be killed by a man of woman-born, however Macduff was ripped from his mother's stomach so he didn't technically fit the story.

Tree

I chose this image because this tree looks as though it is suffering, and losing it's sanity like Macbeth does. It is personified to me in a strange way, because it looks a bit like a person with their arms up, screaming in agony. Macbeth didn't want to kill King Duncan, but he did it for his wife. Following this murder, he becomes more and more insane and is no longer the person that he was, who had morals and empathy. His transformation into an evil person was marked by guilt, hallucinating Banquo's ghost, and an increased need for power. This tree looks as though it is turning insane as well, with the way that it is bent and shifted in a painful way.

Porcia Catonis

I chose this image because the woman, Porcia Catonis, has similarities to Lady Macbeth. She was the second wife of Marcus Junius Brutus, the most famous of Julius Caesar's assassins. Porcia committed suicide, as did Lady Macbeth. This picture illustrates her stabbing herself, which reminded me of Lady Macbeth, who killed herself because of her guilt in starting Macbeth's murders. Porcia is wearing red, which can symbolize seduction, violence, and malice; these things all have to do with Lady Macbeth. The fact that Portia had a famous assassin husband and ended her life in suicide bears striking resemblance to the story of Lady Macbeth.
