Skimboarding began around 1930 on the beaches of Laguna Beach, California.

While initially practitioners were limited to sliding along the sand, parallel to the sea, the sport evolved to incorporate more surfing and skateboarding maneuvers.

The boards started out being made of wood, and evolved to be made of foam, used in surfboards, which allowed for greater evolution in maneuvers in the sport.

Skimboard is a type of surfing that has the peculiarity of starting on land. On skimboarding, the surfer takes advantage of the energy of running, and then jumping onto the board, launches himself against the waves.

Unlike almost all sports, skimboarding has no written rules that practitioners can follow. Some practitioners are in competition, but a lot of practitioners do not compete, they just want to have fun and enjoy the sport.

Styles of Skimboard

Skimboard has three distinct styles:

Freestyle – practiced in the thin film of water at the seaside, often with rotation maneuvers or other maneuvers to change position.
Jumps – Also practiced in the thin film of water on the seashore where the competitor takes advantage of the projection of the impact with a wave to jump and do pirouettes without a board (somersaults, dives, etc.).

Wave Skimboard – This style is the most common in Skimboard competitions. Competitors start their “wave” in the “take off” heading towards a wave to perform all the maneuvers, returning again with the wave, they surf the wave until it breaks on the seashore or until it reaches their destination.

Motocross have been create in United Kingdom in the early 1900s where the Auto-Cycle Clubs would hold time trials.

In motocross, there are riders on their bikes whose objective is to get the best time on the dirt track within 15 to 30 minutes and may have additional laps, all riders are equipped with suits with protections and helmets, but like everything over time everything evolves, and in the past, motocross had less speed and the curves were not sharp.

In motocross, as in any other sport, there are rules, which in this case are: follow the track layout and not take shortcuts, the second rule is that the pilot must be properly equipped, the third is that pilots and their motorcycles must be registered to compete otherwise they are prevented from participating and the fourth is to know what the movements and the colors of the flags.

We chose skimboarding because we didn't know the sport and when we saw images about it we became curious about getting to know it better. After this work we discovered a new sport that probably many people don't know about.

We chose motocross because we were already aware of what it was but didn't know the ins and outs of it. We wanted to activate our knowledge, in order to broaden our horizons. By the end of the work we knew him better and we really liked him.
