This theory explains how being rewarded is a fantastic way to stay motivated. Being rewarded is a strong motivator because it taps into our desire for recognition, appreciation, and positive reinforcements. We get some pleasure and motivation causing us to continue doing what we are doing to keep receiving rewards. For example, when I have so many tasks to complete and feel overwhelmed, I remind myself that as soon as I finish, I get to practice DJ transitions.

This theory states that we create our own personal beliefs based on our social connections. I believe that this one is more of a mental type of motivation, more within yourself. When you have positive interactions, it provides a sense of belonging and support that can help you stay motivated. Having support and encouragement from people like friends or family can help with staying motivated during challenging times. There have been so many times when I had to text my best friends to help me stay motivated and I believe this truly works!

This theory explains how our point of view can really determine our motivation. Having positive thoughts and positive feelings can really lead to positive behaviors. However, having negative thoughts also has the same effect. Learning how to look at the positive side of things can really change the outcome in any situation. This is definitely one I need to work on as I am very hard on myself. Being able to step back and really look at the positive side can help increase motivation.

This theory states that to increase motivation, you must attend to your basic needs first before completing a task. When we have our basic needs met, we can focus on higher level needs. Once we are there, we are more confident and motivated to pursue personal achievement. If your basic needs are not met, you are constantly in a state of stress and worry. This makes it difficult to complete tasks. That is why it it very important for you to work on your basic needs.

The theory that would help me maintain my motivation would be Cognitive. I honestly feel like it is the one that I struggle with the most personally. If I can really learn how to achieve looking at things in a positive way it can really help me stay motivated. In the textbook, when it showed the two examples of the students, I felt close with the second one. I really have a bad habit of having negative thoughts and letting them really determine the outcome. However, this class has been very eye opening for me. I am excited to be here. Not only am I going to leave here as a music producer, I will be leaving here with a lot more confidence.

Setting challenging but realistic goals will help balance between achievable goals and the drive to push past my comfort zone. The feeling of achieving a challenging goal will provide a reward within myself motivating me to keep setting and pursuing even more goals in the future. I feel like I will stay more focused and be more productive in the processes. Kind of like being in the zone!
