Maizy, the main character, longed for everything to stay the same while her best friend, Izzy/Isabelle, desired for a change. Consequently, they parted ways. Inspired by the Nancy Drew books along with a photo of two people and her grandmother, Jacuzzi as a teenager in a box that she found at her mom's shop, Maizy started to help her grandmother reunite with her childhood friend. She was also inspired by Nancy Drew to write her project on the series history with her new best friends, Cam and Nell. Izzy accidently ruins a book that was special to her, and it is at that moment that Izzy realizes that they can both be on different paths in life and still be friends. In the end, they figure out a way to reunite her grandmother and her friend and Maizy learns not to "Stand still do absolutely nothing, the seasons will change around you. If it's going to happen you might as well keep walking and enjoy the path ahead"(Bertman 310).

"But the thing about change is, you can't stop it. Even if you stand still and do absolutely nothing , the seasons change around you. If it's going to happen, you might as well keep walking and enjoy the path ahead"(Bertman 310). This quote is significant because it points to the theme, one must embrace the change. Maizy, the main character, struggles to embrace the change throughout the entire book. When Izzy, her friend, decides to change things up a bit, she and Maizy get into a fight and they go their separate ways. After Izzy is caught stealing a book that was special to Maizy and ruining it, she vents to Maizy about how she felt that Maizy wanted to stay the same while she wanted some things to change. It was at that moment that Maizy realized that she and Izzy could still be friends even if they change what they do. In the end, Izzy realizes that she must embrace the change and enjoy it.

I can relate to Maizy's struggle to deal with when she and Izzy, her friend, parted ways. When we switched school, my friend and I separated and we could not hang out for a long time. I was very disappointed to hear that we couldn't hang out. I, then, found some new friends and scheduled to hang out with my friend. This shows how I embraced the change just as Maizy did in the end.

Maizy suffers external conflict with her friend, Izzy. While Izzy wants to some things to change, Maizy, on the contrary, wants everything to stay the exact same. They had a fight and parted ways. Maizy kept addressing this fight and how unfair Izzy was. In the end, after Izzy takes a book that was special to Maizy and ruins it, Maizy finds Izzy crying on the ground of the park. Izzy vents to Maizy about how she felt that she wanted everything to stay the same while she wanted to switch things up. Maizy realizes that she shouldn't try to convince Izzy to stay the same.

I learned to embrace change and not try to force things to stay the same. Maizy continuously talks about how things have changed and how she despised it. In the end, after all was resolved and everyone gathers around, both new friends and old ones, Maizy looks around and realizes that pone must embrace the change and not try to stop it. I can remember when the Bible tells us, "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think"(Romans 12:2).

Maizy struggles with change and only embraces at the very end. In the beginning, Maizy resists change and even parts ways with a close friend, Izzy, because of her struggle to embrace the change. She continues to fight change until the end of the story where she looks around her backyard with both new and old friends. She, in that moment, realizes that she must walk along the path laid before her and enjoy the path because no matter what she does things will change.

Maizy is obviously shocked when Jacuzzi declares that she cannot remember anything about the picture with her in it. Maizy learns from the book that "Friendship is no big thing.
