Students should be able to manage money respectively. Job skills, and resumes are important to learn during school. Schools should also focus more on social skills.  Mental health issues also need to be taken more seriously. I believe this is because many parents do not provide their children with proper encouragement, as well as lack to inform them of how learning can improve their lives. Our school tries to incorporate "day to day" learning in classes such as Home ec or Economics and Personal Finance; however, these students do not want to learn, nor are they learning about how to set proper goals. Without the direct encouragement and goals setting, many students are susceptible to mental health issues. For many of these students, these mental issues have become trendy, which has caused mental health to be normalized, thus increasing the hole in which these students are facing. Another huge issue our schools have not addressed is Sex Education, and the lack of emphasizing importance to these students in the class. Many students begin learning about sex education at improper ages. During 7th grade, for example, the male sex ed class were taught about the development of women and their bodies, rather than of their own, so for many of these young men, they are highly uneducated on how to have safe sex, and for the LGBT students, they learn nothing of proper and safe sex education, which leads to unsafe and risky situations. ]]> 2019-03-21 20:17:53 UTC https://padlet.com/amy_chattin/32oipv918o94/wish/343996159 https://padlet.com/amy_chattin/32oipv918o94/wish/345695914 A class that needs to be taught at this school is a mental health class. Many students that I know deal with anxiety, depression, and stress and most don't know how to deal with these symptoms.
