He wouldn't care about school or about his family. He just cared about the theater and art. He worked at a theater and he was obsessed with the artist, he wished he would be like them. He feels mediocre and one day he steals money and goes to New York and lives what apparently were what he thought the best days of his life. But he didn't feel as good as he thought. People realized he stole money and went to New York, his dad paid for the 1,000 dollars he stole. He works day and night. The only thing he does is to work at the office. People tries to talk to him about his family, job, life... But he just says "I would prefer not to". He doesn't interact with anyboody. The Lawyer keeps trying to talk to him over and over, he even offers him a new job and house but he says "I prefer not to". He is an interesting character because even though, he doesn't interact with the other characters, you can notice he has a deeper side that he doesn't want to show to the rest of the world. He likes her neightboor and he thinks about her all day long. We can appreciate that he is very attentive and thoughtful. He pays attention to her and he knows when she's going to leave the house so he can see her. One day she started talking to him and asked him if he could get her something from the bazaar araby. That made him feel very nervous and excited. He is a very passionate character and he wanted to make sure that everything will be perfect between Mangan's sister and him, even though they just met. At the end, he wasn't able to get to the bazaar in time. He was feeling very upset and dissapointed. He felt like he failed her.
