My parents both told me that they only ever remember using paper and chalk boards to do work in Mexico during the 1990's. They expressed their hope that the education system is better currently especially since she sees the access and opportunities we have. They said that the school at least tried to help with necessities like food and water but when it came to luxuries like computers and projectors they never had enough money.

My mother explained to me that sometimes paper was hard to get a hold on through out the whole year. Any time she got a note book she would write to her self and refine her hand writing. She said that a big gap she sees with her and her kids is that most of us do not have good hand writing. This could be due to a lot of factors but I'm sure that my use of only a computer has somewhat affected my writing skills.

Growing up she states that there was digital white boards, access to library computers, and projectors. This to me was a big jump but as I thought about it more I understood that most of my mothers education took place in a small town in Mexico. It probably didn't have the same budget behind it. She explained how her classroom would regularly visit the computer lab or library computers. They would learn to type and would read from websites online.

Yanais told me how teachers would incorporate kahoot or white board games as a kid. Kids would actually try when also presented with a reward afterwards. She said that these games were more to help with getting students involved rather than to actually learn the material. And it did work most people who weren't interested in the topics still tried to win.

My little sister states that she has her assigned ipad to use at school. She also has a class named technology where she goes to learn to type and learn about how to navigate the internet. Shes only 9 and shes already been exposed to so much. I can only imagine where it goes from here.

She explains that when the ipads come out she knows that they are going to do work on them and that they're not to be played with. Furthermore she adds that ipads were for tests or watching educational videos so she had more fun when the assignments were arts and crafts. I would've thought that the younger generations eyes light up whenever they can get a hold of technology but maybe there is a balance to be found.
