Change Management Strategies - Kotter's

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nhDL33OkVac59twYwVXKyI_OXFQKb_Xm/view?usp=sharing - Kotter's 8 step change process

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1-6aeipkX8wcTMqBkh5dlO3lwR3YcFUx_WIkMYNEkFow/edit#slide=id.p1 - Change Management Strategies

MAHI KAINGA (HOME WORK):
Please record your answers for chosen strategies as discussed in the Group activity in the class

Below is sample of an "Excellence" answer

CETA Practice Examination
Question (b): Select ONE of the strategies above or any other strategy that might be suitable. Evaluate whether the selected strategy is likely to result in Plastiks Ltd achieving effective change in your answer:

Fully explain ONE positive and ONE negative impact that the implementation of the selected strategy may have on the anticipated resistance of the employees of Plastiks Ltd

Provide a justified conclusion as to whether the implementation of the selected strategy is likely to result in Plastiks Ltd achieving effective change

ANSWER:
Selected strategy - inviting employees to participate and be involved in the change

This strategy will be most suitable beacause Joe's research has discovered that one of the key reasons to resistance to change is "fear of the unknown"and "mistrust of management". By involving employees to participate in the change Joe will be able to invoke greater commitment to the change and reduce resistance amongst employees.
One major advantage is that it will help solve specific problems related to the movement of the manufacturing unit.
One disadvantage though it will involve more time and reduce the productivity in the short-run
Choosing this strategy will lead to more certainty amongst the employees, alleviate fear and instill more trust on the management.
Overall this strategy will alleviate the basic resistance to change amongst most of the employees, workers will feel more involved and certain about the future of the company and their own future within the company. It will also provide few employees the opportunity to grow within the company, gain experience in working international market and some will even be able to secure their jobs by moving laterally to other roles in marketing/administration.
Therefore the chosen strategy is most likely to result in Plastiks Ltd achieving effective change as the immediate and long-term benefits will far outweigh the loss in short-term productivity. So also, Plastiks Ltd will be able to compete in NZ market by providing more competitive prices due to reduced manufacturing costs and exponentially grow their business by participating in the Chinese market as well, leading to increased revenues, sales and profits.

NOTE: Inorder to justify your answer and secure an excellence you need to compare the advantages over disadvantages and link it to the competitive edge it provides the business and how does it help the business address the concerns of its key stakeholders, for instance how will it impact the revenues, sales and profits or how will it help Maori tikangas of sustainability, Kaitiaki tanga and others
