Windblown bags that get littered onto the streets, either get eaten by animals or get tangled in trees which is a problem in some areas. According to source #1, bags have also interfered with "water infrastructure equipment" which made some communities ban the bags. Other cities and communities should do the same

Plastic bags are not easy to recycle and the reason is because plastic bags tend to get stuck in the recycling machinery. Most recycling facilities actually do not have enough capacity to recycle bags, Which means that the recycling rate for plastic bags is actually about 5%

Plastic bags are harmful to human health because plastic fragments in the ocean such as plastic bags can absorb pollutants. When marine animals consume plastic that basically have chemicals in the ocean, which can make it's way through the oceans food chain and then into humans who eat fish and other marine animals.

Although some people do recycle it doesn't really seem to be helping the plastic bags to stay out of places they shouldn't be in .
