I did my first rotation in the hospital in the department of Orthopaedic. On this first day in the department I was full of emotions, i had a big smile and a big desire to learn everything about the patients that were here in that moment, and in particular learn everything about what does the nurse profession. On this day I was assigned to a nurse that is called like me, we bonded immediately, and I like her because of her good behaviour, and for how well she explained everything about nursing to me.

This day I saw many patients with broken arms and legs, but also more problematic patients with spine problems, such as scoliosis. At the end of this day full of emotions, besides to have aching legs for standing many hours for the first time, i realized that the nurse is what i want to become when i’ll grow up.

The only thing to prevent from Covid-19 was to avoid physical contact when greeting.

To prevent this virus and many other diseases, vaccines were born: they have reduced the rate of mortality and contagion, and are one of the most important prevention tools available to public health.

Write 150 words about your experience with one of your clinical tutors.

During my last clinical placement in pediatric nursing, I had the privilege of working with a highly experienced clinical tutor who has been a nurse for over 15 years. From the very beginning, she welcomed me warmly and made me feel comfortable and supported. Her dedication to teaching and her ability to share her knowledge with students truly impressed me. She always took the time to explain procedures clearly and encouraged me to ask questions and grow in confidence. What inspired me most was her continuous desire to learn—despite her many years of experience, she is currently attending a master to further expand her skills. Her passion for nursing and education had a big impact on me, and she became a role model for the kind of nurse I aspire to be. Thanks to her guidance, I’ve gained valuable practical knowledge and motivation for my future career.

What type of structure do you imagine working in? How do you imagine your career? Write 75- 100 words

I see myself working as a pediatric nurse in the hospital where I am currently completing my studies. I’ve grown familiar with its atmosphere, team, and values, and I believe it would be the ideal place to begin my professional journey. I hope to offer dedicated, empathetic care to young patients and support their families through challenging times. Being part of a team I already admire would help me develop both personally and professionally.

Being a nurse is sometimes incredibly difficult. You are the person patients see most often.

The essential qualities to be a good nurse are different and include: empathy, patience, attention to detail, effective communication, ability to work in a team, ability to manage stress, technical skills and knowledge of medical procedures and protocols. Furthermore, a good nurse should be able to make quick and accurate decisions, have good problem solving skills and demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility. It is important to underline that these are just some of the qualities required and that each situation may require specific skills.

A good nurse must know, he must communicate his knowledge, then inform, but he must also know how to understand how to behave in front of each patient. It should not be forgotten that in outpatient clinics, in hospitals, in all care facilities, there are suffering people who need clear answers reported in the most appropriate way.

Pet visits have become increasingly popular in hospitals to help patients feel calm, reassured, and motivated. Studies show that petting animals can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, and help patients heal faster. Indeed when Patricia Stevens was in the hospital for the birth of her twins, she was scared and uncomfortable, but when she saw her dog she felt happy and relaxed.

Patients are sometimes happier to see their pets than to see people, as their dogs don't care if they smell funny or look terrible. Pet visits can improve patient and parent morale, as seen at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, and Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento, California. While some hospitals may be concerned about the transmission of diseases, they have had no cases of patients being infected by animals. However, a clear policy and guidelines are essential to ensure the success of pet visits.
