-Liam thinks that in a time of war, that is fine.
-Makes a reference to Churches in WW2.
- I would probably feel emotionally scarred, but it really depends on the person. Maybe I would different, if that person injured or killed a person in my platoon, but if not, then I would be damaged.
- Liam just says it’s a part of war. You’re still killing someone and he would be scarred, but not that much. Much less than if he killed an innocent person.

In Chapter 11, the platoon finds a pagoda that they think is abandoned. When they walk in, they find two monks. The platoon takes advantage of these monks and turns the pagoda into a base-type structure. At the end of this chapter, Dobbins and Kiowa talk about how they should not have taken this holy place and turned into a military fort. 

Do you agree with Kiowa and Dobbins, or do you think turning the pagoda into a military fort was fine in a time of war?

- Liam says young man was the enemy. Liam would be conflicted because on one hand he killed someone, but on the other hand it’s war.
- I think I would also be conflicted. It would be my job to protect my platoon, but after the war this would leave me in a bad mental state.
- Liam said that if he were O’Brien, he would feel awful. To an extent, he put someone to their death.
- I said that I would feel horrible, but Bowker was already dealing with mental problems. If I were to do a better job on writing the text, the result of Bowker’s life may have been different. This would leave a permanent impact on my life.
