Sage is Jaron, the lost prince of Carthya, but he doesn't let Mott know that until one of the middle-end chapters. The reader figures it out pretty quick, but it isn't confirmed until the late middle. After Jaron/Sage tells Mott, Mott is forced not to to tell Connor or any of the other boys.
Sure, Jaron and Mott know, but none of the other characters know, so it's Ironic that none of the other characters get it.

In this book, there is an aunt that Violate, Clouse, and Sunny go to live with. They aren't related, but they're living with her.
The "aunt" is very phoic. She is afraid of everything so, it's ironic that she dies by her own "wittiness". The aunt thought that if you ate anything before going swimming, you have to wait an hour before swimming. The Count Olaf then came to get the children and takes the Aunt. She had just eaten a banana and the boat she was on sank and she died.
