The perfect moment as described in is that moment within a song that embodies the message the artists are attempting to convey and steals your breath and your heart at the same time. This is not a genre specific kind of thing. It is the pinnacle of any song, not including the lyrics. It is about the song and the way it feels to the listener. The perfect moment creates a moment of pure emotional override whilst listening to a song. Bliss, sorrow, jealousy, whatever the emotion is it shows through like a beam of light through the clouds. The perfect moment is just as it sounds, no hidden meanings, just momentary perfection.

Ratliff pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one. I know I always agree with him, but the textbook is written by this guy, so I feel socially inclined to believe whatever he tells me at this point. I guess there is a perfect moment in every song, it just may take a person who enjoys the genre to find it. I can see where he is coming from on this topic. As for his song choices, I am going to have to choose to analyze the song "God Save the Queen" by the Sex Pistols, because I am already a fan of the genre, so it is the easiest way for me to find the perfect moment. I definitely agree that the line Ratliff discussed, that acted as a breaking point for the "sanity" of the band is the perfect moment.

Nothing would better exemplify the perfect moment in a song better than the emo cult classic "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance. In the video linked for this song, the perfect moment is experienced at 1 minute and 47 seconds. Here we have a transition from remembrance into perseverance. The tone changes and our emotions rise with the swell. I know Ratliff said that it is apart from the other musical elements, but I believe this instrumental transition is the absolute perfect moment, as it embodies that pure defiant perseverance the song intended, in a way that is almost inhuman.
