<title>There&#39;s no point when equity &quot;pleases&quot; everyone. Parents, particulatly white parents, want there students &quot;safe&quot;. Safe from what? When there needs to be a response, it needs to be met with social work and interventionist. Thinking of the documentary, &quot;Notes from the Field&quot;, there is an idea that do we push kids/people away or bring them closer?</title>

<title>The equity task force has done some work on retaining teachers of color. There is a climate survey. It&#39;s not always done with transparency and not disaggregated by race. There are 9% African American teachers and 4% African American teachers. 30% Hispanic students, and 13% teachers. The data shows this. I am concerned about parents not knowing this. We as educators often feel powerless. We had an administrator call a staff member the N word. It took months to get her out. There is data and there are toxic environments that keep educators out and not want to stay. You have people at all levels in this conversation. It is hard to have these conversation. I am a two time educator of the year and I can&#39;t tell you how many times I have cried on the way to work because of racially charges envrironements </title>

<title>I feel frustrated that you had to ask that question. We are coming towards a more global awareness, bur people have been ringing this bell for a long time. It is frustrating, because people of color shouldn&#39;t have to bear the burden of those questions, because they already have to do that in their own circles. <title>The board asked that there was an outside auditor - we know that we are hiding data for a fact about discipline, etc. but board members celebrated the numbers that were shown, but you can&#39;t audit and analyze yourself internally. That&#39;s a concern with a district police department, because they are held accountable internally. Officer Yarborough is great, but he is still developing his awareness and this should not all rest on this. David Osman was someone also developing their consciousness. We all have to develop out critical lens and not take things at face value.</title>

<title>I wanted to share a challenge of board members that future trustees will have to fix. Board members don&#39;t get all the info you think they get. I found out from an educator. We should be alerted early in the process so we can be proactice instead of reactive. Problem-solvers have been kept at bay becuase there is a tug-of-war and lack of transparency because of where lines end between the board and superintendent. - Trustee Math</title>

<title>When you say I have mentored Black children, it does something in my chest. When I hear that, I hear that white savior complex... the idea that I have a &quot;black friend&quot;. Use your voice for equity.</title>

<title>A parent: I ask you to be a voice for equity when it is inconvenient, not just when it is convenient or for another time. I am asking everyone to do something now. People are marching in the streets even though they could get a disease and die. Do it when it inconvenient. Do it now.</title>

<title>(cont.) At board meetings you hear the data and reports from TAPR and open information. It is easy to find. I have been a mentor to students and to Black students and seen how they interact with their peers. I want to thank the people on this call for their commitment and comments. - RRISD Candidate, Danielle Weston</title>
