This disease had a 9.6% fatality rate in China, but there have been no recorded cases since 2004.

This epidemic showcased glaring problems within the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The ruling elite handled the epidemic before it became a greater catastrophe so the economy. A failing economy would create a blow to the middle class and leave millions of laid-off state employees and migrant workers out of jobs, threatening domestic stability. In the past, the Chinese government has dealt with famine and crises less seriously, but they will handle this epidemic with more severity because it affects all classes of people.

Since the founding of the PRC, China has adopted the policy of ethnic autonomy, granting institutional autonomy to regions inhabited mainly by ethnic minorities, under which local governments are autonomous when it comes to legislation in the fields like finance, education, and cultural development, among others. Yet despite heated debates and high sentiments arguing for adjustment, little change is seen in China’s ethnic minority policy. Both regions are treated as a lower class.

SARS- Severe Acute Respiratory System; an incredibley contagious respiratory disease that had a large scale, negative impact on the people of China.
The outbreak began around the borders of Hong Kong in November, 2002. However, the seriousness of the disease was not acknowledged until later on, resulting in an epidemic. Although the Chinese government tried to avoid the World Health Organization upon the outbreak of the disease, fatalities rose in the Chinese population and action was taken. SARS was under control by 2003. Because little was done (initially) by the Chinese government, primarily the CCP, mistrust in the reliability of those in power was created. The people of China were unsure about the government's abiloty to address critical issues such as SARS

Established in 1979 to restrict chinas population growth to limit couples to only having one child. Was in effect for over 35 years. Many forced abortions took place because of this law. Many preferred male children for better benefits so there was many abortions and abandonment to girls, this creates a generation problem because young men don’t have enough female’s to marry and have their own families which can cause problems in future government social services. The population dropped to achieve their goal but in 2013 they changed the rule to allow couples to have 2 children because of a shrinking labor pool and not having enough people to take care of the elderly to stable the population.

SARS is a respiratory illness that can be fatal.
The outbreak in Southern China was between November 2002- July 2003. During this outbreak there were 8,098 cases of SARS an disease this resulted in 774 deaths. The World Health Organization declared it a "worldwide health threat".
The SARS epidemic was not only a test for the public health infrastructure of China but it also created crucial questions about the capacity and dynamics of the Chinese political structure and their ability to address future outbreaks. The CCP withheld information from the public and did little to address the outbreak. They later tried to contain the disease and finally destroyed it and had no more cases on May 19th, 2004.

The system allows for control of Chinese citizens by limiting free movement and trapping people in rural areas. The system works like this: citizens are born into reasons called hukous and to move out of those hukous they must apply to the government. Those requests are seldom granted and people are trapped in low income or rural areas. It is very difficult for a Chinese citizens who was born in a rural huko to move to a city. Those people could live happy healthy lives in the city but “the property rights are skewed, and resources are lopsided” leading to an opulent upper class and government control at the expense of the citizens. The system started in 2013 and despite attempts for reform in 2016 still causes problems to this day.

Restricted to ethnic Han Chinese living in urban areas. Lasted over 35 years. The Chinese have long had a preference for male heirs, so the one-child rule caused many problems for female infants: abortion, out-of-country adoption, neglect, abandonment, and even infanticide were known to occur to female. It has been estimated to have reduced population growth in the country of nearly 1.4 billion by as much as 300 million people over its first 20 years. Chinese people are now allowed to have 2 children.
