Some of the elements of coaching make sense and if you can teach or build the parent capacity to help their child then that’s a good thing.

Challenge: Using coaching practices to fidelity ongoing especially with families where English is a second language, etc.

Challenge: A lot of providers are new and want to be more “directive” because they have so many strategies they want to share/try. Directive feedback counts against you if you use it.

feels condescending to ask a colleague what strategies they have tried with a family.

Ideas to address the challenges?  Programs have implemented some coaching practices within our process (i.e. JVP with families and between consultants, activity setting scheduling, FST meetings, etc.). Can these be counted as part of the fidelity process in some way.
