Oily floors and flammable barrels of oil had caused the fire to spread quickly. This fire could have been prevented if the work spaces weren't as cluttered and oil wasn't all over the place. People would jump from floors high up top try and escape but they did not make it. Many people had died due to not being able to leave the building. These photos also show how cluttered the working spaces were which were unsafe for the workers and others in the building. People of all ages had worked and had gotten none to very little pay, if you were a good worker you could ask for a raise nicely and they just might give you a 50 cent raise. They would work countless hours and would barely get breaks.
