I had never done anything that way, and it was intimidating and felt racist. But I do feel that was important so that all groups can be honest and heal. We were doing most of the reading during the meeting time, and we never got to finish our discussions.
 
I also enjoyed discussing in smaller groups first so more people could participate. Then we shared together as one group. 

I think it would be helpful to meet 2 weeks in a row or at least twice a month to make sure we don't forget where we left our discussions. Too distracting. Id rather be given alone time to read and reflect and then group time to talk and go deeper. To really engage in meaningful discussion, there also needs to be designated time to engage with the texts prior to group discussion. I found it challenging to start reading once we were in the group; people were talking or checking in or arriving late and it was distracting. (But I didn't prioritize reading during any other time, so I had to do it then.) If it is organized so that it doesn't feel like we are pulled in many different ways with ALL that we have to get done will help people engage more in the work that needs to get done.
