I have put up data charts for my students the last 3 years and it has helped every year. I use a chart so the students can track if they are needing i-ready or completed for the week. The students are able to track their own data and become responsible for their own learning. The students like to see how many times they put their sticker up weekly. They would also receive a reward at the end of the year for completing their lessons for the week.

I plan to introduce data tracking by having a class discussion about setting goals and celebrating growth. I will start with a simple visual, like a class data wall showing how many students mastered a skill (no names, just colored icons or bars). Then, I’ll model how to track individual progress using simple goal-setting sheets or sticker charts. We'll practice reflecting after assessments using sentence stems like “I did well on ___ because…” or “Next time, I will try to improve on ___.” The goal is to help students take ownership of their learning in a positive and age-appropriate way.
