Similarity's
-The Holocaust was the persecution of the Jewish and other people who didn’t follow the Nazi’s vision; this is very similar to the Burmese military’s mass killings, sexual violence, and forced displacement on the Rohingya people who are a Muslim minority like the Jews.

Cambodian Genocide

Cambodia:
The rest of the world in response to this was not great, the US took little action even after public denounced this crime. Khmer Rouge had sealed off the country also which made efforts even more difficult by the countries trying to help.
similarities between holocaust and Cambodian genocide:
The holocaust and the genocide in Cambodia are very similar. For Cambodia religion, popular culture, and all forms of self expression were forbidden. Both in the holocaust and in Cambodia families were split apart and children forced into harsh labor. So many in both situations died from starvation, torture, disease and killings.

Democratic Republic of the Congo

This mass killing resulted from two mass wars: The one that resulted directly after the Rwandan genocide, and the second war was involved with the armed forces of at least seven countries and multiple militias.

General Mobutu Sese Seko wanted power and violently began a series of uprisings across the nation. He wanted to purge the country of colonialism and "restore it's African identity." The perpetrators preyed on the Congolese population. And they made incursions back into Rwanda.
In 2003, foreign forces withdrew, and a transitional government was established.

Iraq

Us military withdrew from Iraq in December 2011. When Islamic states took over Yezidi, they forced them on top of a mountain and encircled them. they were starving but the United States air force came and airstrike, causing an opening for the people to escape. Besides this, Iraq had very little help because tey couldn't use normal strategies to escape and they were left to suffer.

A comparison of the Iraq genocide and the holocaust was the numerous amount of deaths and hatred among a group.

Background Information:
In October 2016 Islamic State, a terrorist group, brought and is still bringing massive destruction into areas in Ninewa and northern Iraq. This is all because the group wanted one ruler over Iraq.

Syria

Background Info:
Who:
The conflict was not only against opposing forces, but transformed into a violent struggle between local, national, regional, and international forces.
What:
Since its outbreak in March 2011, the conflict in Syria has cost the lives of nearly 500,000 people, displaced more than half the country's population, and involved numerous atrocities and crimes against humanity.
Where/When:
The genocide in Syria begun in March 2011, but the death toll escalated extremely quickly in 2012.

Why:
It started because of a domestic uprising against the president that got violent between local , national and regional . They rounded up everyone that wasn’t born there and wouldn’t let them work or do anything.

Response:
“In fact, the efforts of foreign governments to affect the outcome of the Syrian conflict have contributed to the escalation and increasingly sectarian nature of the violence.”

Many countries have taken sides which hasn’t improved the war in support of either party’s side. The UN couldn’t come to decision on what to do on the situation, so they missed their chance to stop it before it got out of hand and to the place they are at now. They are still trying to come up with a way to solve this in a way that everyone agrees on.

Similarities:
Uprising violence has been making Syria stand out in potential genocide cases and like the holocaust, a lot of violence was used, also the kill rate in Syria has been rising and is starting to really concern many people and one again just like the holocaust a lot of unnecessary killing and murder occurred. “Ambassador Hof, who previously served at the US Department of State as special advisor for transition in Syria, examines the increasingly sectarian nature of the violence in Syria and its implications for the future. ” This quote shows just how serious problems have been getting in Syria just helping us remember that this is similar to the holocaust which is not good at all.

Background Info: It occurred in Yugoslavia from 1992-1995 and 100,000 were killed. In 1992, Bosnia declared independence from Yugoslavia. The genocide occurred because the Serbs wanted "ethnic cleansing."
How it is similar to The Holocaust: They were both considered ethnic cleansing. They were both disguised as something else.
Response from the world: The UN, European union, United States, and Russia minimized the aggressiveness. They treated the Serbs, Bosniaks, and Croats as equal
