They began forcing them into work and to indentify with the same beliefs. Clearly this upset them, and the Native Americans revolted in 1680. They joined forces despite dialect barriers, led by Popé, and found success in numbers. This was caused after American forces overwhelmed the territory they had previously moved the tribe into. It was an awkward battle of sorts as they fought over uneven land. The battle was short lived and the Cheyenne called it off. Depsite their generally good relations with the whites, in 1715 the pressure put on their farmlands and hunting grounds became impossible to ignore. The Indians united and struck against the white people. The settlers fled in fear, but were able to recieve help from neighboring states or cities.
