Yes parents being involved in school is very important. If parents were involved in schools today like mine were when we were grown up, there would not be any need for resource officers or police officers at the schools because the parents and teachers handled it the same, as kids if you got out of line at school you knew you were going to get the business as soon as you mom and dad got there and more often then not it would happen right there in front of who ever was around at the time whether it was the teacher, principal, nurse, or another parenting. Issue was solved no outside agency was called the parents did not blame the teacher or the school.

What are some barriers parents and guardians might encounter

when trying to forge a school-family connection?

Some barriers may be culture and language. When those are not barriers you may have religion, race, or sexuality. In addition you may have trust issues, does the teacher think when a child is bad, the parents are going to blame the teacher for not being a good a teacher, or the parents going to think the teacher is not doing enough for their child to get the right education.
