The holodeck would draw that virtual reality out into the real world. All the things created by the simulation can be observed by all of the senses (sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste (anything you eat that is created by the holodeck you can taste, but it doesn't give you any nutrition)). You can not be hurt by anything in the simulation. It can be used in schools to watch historical events play out around them. It can be used as a gym because the holodeck only takes up about as much space as a large classroom. The software makes it possible to make you feel like you are walking/ running/ going miles, but instead you are still in the same 30ft. by 30ft. area. The holodecks can also be used for self-defense and military training (these programs be more regulated than others). Can simulate everything from underneath the ocean to outer space

Can be used with video games. I would think that there are games specifically made for it, but if there is a game that you want to play on the holodeck then you can sync it up to the holodeck and the holodeck will make a simulation version of it.

Can be used for many different things

New updates will always be coming out, so it just gets better and better!
