The drilling of oil can be dangerous for the environment. Oil spills, a potential hazard of oil drilling, can cause a decrease in many animal populations. For example, Alaska's fish population decreased due to the huge oil spill that occurred in 1989, and the population still has not replenished. Humans are the ones drilling the oil, so they are affecting the environment of the fish in areas with spilled oil.

The Great Dust Bowl

Humans did not cause the drought that occurred during the time of The Great Dust Bowl, but they did in fact create the dust issue that ensued throughout the drought. Due to poor farming methods and the uprooting of trees, there were no roots holding the soil together. Once the drought began, the soil dried out and turned into dust. Even the slightest amount of wind caused a whirlwind of dried up soil. The erosion of soil in the Great Plains led to the Dust Bowl, hugely affecting the environment.
