Remembrance day is on the 11th day of the 11th month every year. Remembrance day celebrates the end of WWI, that ended at 11 o'clock on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. We wear poppies to remember the soldiers that died so we could live. This is because the fields that they fought on grew poppies. We have a two minute silence at 11 o'clock so everyone can remember those that lost their lives.

Remembrance day is on the 11th of November and we celebrate remembrence day by wearing and buying poppies and having a 2 minutes of silence. Poppies are worn because battles often took place on poppy fields. The red of the poppy is for the blood of the soldiers and the black centre is for the grief of the families of the dead.

Remembrance Day (sometimes known informally as Poppy Day) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth of Nations member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. Following a tradition inaugurated by King George V in 1919,[1] the day is also marked by war remembrances in many non-Commonwealth countries. Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November in most countries to recall the end of hostilities of World War I on that date in 1918. Hostilities formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month", in accordance with the armistice signed by representatives of Germany and the Entente between 5:12 and 5:20 that morning. ("At the 11th hour" refers to the passing of the 11th hour, or 11:00 am.) The First World War officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on 28 June 1919.[2]

Remembrance day is when we stop and remember all of the people who went to war to fight for our country. The reason poppies are used to remember those who have given their lives in battle is because they are the flowers which grew on the battlefields after World War One ended. This is described in the famous World War One poem In Flanders Fields. It is recognized as 11 November, but the parade and ceremonial events are carried out on Remembrance Sunday. The day is celebrated to recognize the Barbadian soldiers who died fighting in the First and Second World Wars. The parade is held at National Heroes' Square, where an interdenominational service is held.
