The main reasons deer communicate like that is due to danger. Deer's get afraid very fast and they think everything that gets them scared is danger so they ran off or they call for help by making noise so that other deer's can help or can run away due to danger.

Deer's have adapted this way of communicate as it is more easier to communicate. Making a simple grunt can notify the other deer's that danger is on its way so that they can run away or can stay and attack.

I think I agree that each animal has its own type of communication such as humans we all speak different languages just like that different animals use different vocals to alert others for danger or just simply communicate. I think without social behaviors no living thing would had survived.
