Design Culture & Colours
In South Korea, Buddhism makes up 15.5% of the entire population, amounting to approximately 7.6 million people. It may not seem like a large percentage, it is still one of the more dominant religions, hence it is still easy to find a prominent Buddhist temple in every major city.

While the practices of Buddhism may vary from country to country, the design infrastructures of the temples remain unchanged, sharing similar elements in terms of its colours and features.

The five main primary colours used are red, blue, green, black and white, but they are often mixed to form new colours, with each colour having its own symbolism. For example, red symbolizes the south, birds, summer and fire.

In terms of the design culture, the features shared between the temples are its tiled roofings, use of wood in its interior, and also its pointy shapes. All of these factors made these temples easily distinguishable.

Design Culture

The National Museum of Singapore was built with a Neo-Palladian and Renaissance architectural style. These styles are also very much present in American architecture due to the influence of the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson. His travels through Europe had influenced him to apply a mix of Palladian-style and neoclassical architecture. An example to show its distinct similarity in the traits shared would be the Virginia State Capitol, conceived by Thomas Jefferson himself.
