Try to stay away from praise like you are so smart, you are so talented. The other thing that resonated with me was all the ways that you can build the confidence of your students. I didn't do this and went back at the end and it took up way too much time. If you do it as you go it will be much easier.
- Be intentional in the praise you give. Words matter and can help or hurt your students' growth mindset!
- Model a growth mindset for students, teach it explicitly, and then allow them opportunity to practice.
- Wait time is so important! Give students a chance to think before calling on someone, but wait a second time after a  student responds. This allows others to think about what they said, and allows the student giving the response to elaborate if they please.
- Celebrate mistakes! Don't be afraid of them. Own mistakes and use them to help you learn and grow. Help your students through this process as well.
- Share resources with families so they can help reinforce growth mindsets at home.
- There are so many resources, posters, videos etc. available to help build growth mindsets in your students! You don't have to recreate the wheel :)
- Set goals with your students! Goals are a powerful motivator and praise on effort/strategy can be given throughout the process of achieving them.
- YET is a powerful word.
- Find time to have fun and celebrate the work of all your students. Building them up is the best thing we can do. Teach them that our brains physically grow and change! Celebrate their hard work, even if it's small.
