Also, I posted this on my Facebook account where I'm mostly friends with teenagers, so that's a significant factor. Furthermore, teenagers are typically people who watch the most television and are exposed to the media the most, and advertisements for pop music are common. As teenagers are seen to be impressionable, perhaps they receive the adverts well and listen to what's presented to them and is accessible. Perhaps this difference exists because the majority of participants in my survey live in London, where tertiary jobs are what most people have. Meanwhile, I think the majority of those participating in the survey were women because it is socially accepted that women often have a more diverse taste in music than men.
