I think my strongest project was when we proposed a bill to see if it would be a law.
That was my strongest project because I had a very good idea of what I was doing and understood the process of how to make a bill, and the topic I had, I felt strongly about. Therefore I could make a strong argument for my bill.

The topic I thought was the most important in Social Studies class was when we learned about how our government works, and the Judicial system.

I thought that learning about our Government, and how it works is important because it is our government and it is important to know how our government works. Also I think learning about the judicial system is important, because I think that it is important to know how to defend yourself against the law. Also, you should know your rights, and know what you are able to do if your in a sticky situation with the law.

I could easily access the internet, and use it to research information for projects, or studying for a test.

One new digital tool that I learned about this year is Kahoot. Kahoot is a fun online site where you could test your knowledge. Many people in my grade loved Kahoot, and think that it is very fun. Kahoot helps people memorise information before a test, and I think that it helped my learning greatly.

What did I learn

In 8th grade Social Studies, I learned many things. The first trimester of Social Studies class, we were mostly learning about our Government. We learned about how a bill became a law, our branches of government and what they do, and we also went in depth into our Judicial Systems, learning about how our courts operated, and the types of trials. (criminal and civil trials) We learned a lot about our amendments, mostly about our first amendment, and our rights as an American Citizen. We also did many mock simulations in this trimester. During this trimester, some of the mock simulations we did were, Constitutional Convention, 1st amendment simulation, and Mock Senate Bill. That is what we did in the first trimester. In the second trimester of 8th grade Social Studies, we finished up our government unit. We had a test on the Legislative branch and then we had a huge paper. The paper was about the Judicial system and we had to make a research question, find 2 sources in noodletools, make notecards, make an outline, do a draft of the paper, and then do a final paper. It was an important project and took up a lot of the trimester. My chromebook was very helpful for this project, like it was for every project, paper, and quiz before it, as was google classroom. Lastly, in the third trimester of Social Studies we started to learn more about the World Wars. We learned about the WW1 propaganda, and the Treaty of Versailles, then we learned about WW2. We went in depth about how people were treated, and how WW2 helped end the Great Depression. Another thing that we did and we learned about the treatment of the Japanese and the atomic bomb. Also, we learned about the Cold War and did a project on that time period. Lastly, we went to Washington D.C. When we went to Washington D.C. I learned a lot of things, and saw a lot of things. Some of the things that I learned about and saw at Washington D.C. was The Natural History Museum, The Air and Space Museum, The Vietnam War Memorial, The World War 2 Memorial I learned a lot in Washington D.C. and I think that it was an amazing trip and very informational. That is what I learned in 8th grade Social Studies.

The use of Chromebooks was very helpful in 8th Grade Social Studies. I thought that it was a great tool to learn on, and it really helped improve my learning a lot. Projects also helped impact my learning, because it helped me make sure I understood what I was learning, and helped me have hands on experience, even though it sometimes was just a simulation. Thats what I used to learn in 8th grade Social Studies.
