“by the mid-1980s, the whole thing [fashion] changed when pop music stars such as Madonna and Cyndi Lauper became popular. They introduced an entirely new style that most people associate with the 1980s to the present day. Bright colors, spandex, bangles, hoop earrings, teased hair, loud makeup and neon clothing were the order of 80s fashion for women. For the guys, activewear such as sweatpants and sweatshirts, denim jeans and jackets, wild-colored thick, itchy sweaters and athletic shoes were “in” during the decade.”

There was technological revolution that would change the way music was listened from records and cassettes, to cds and eventually mp3 players (65). There isn’t much to say about the impact long term because the era of the ‘90s wasn’t too long ago. The only huge societal impact it had was on the technological age. Music during the ‘90s was futuristic and was looking for the "electronic sounds" that were a symbol of the future. The music fueled the desire for the future and pushed the idea of the technology age that the nineties would later come to be called.
