Klinefelter's syndrome can be diagnosed by hormone testing and chromosome analysis. To confirm the diagnosis, the doctor will then preform a chromosome analysis. To do this a sample of blood is sent to a lab to examine the shape and number of chromosomes present. A small number of males are diagnosed with Klinefelter's syndrome before birth. In order to properly diagnose the unborn child a procedure is necessary.

The first to describe Klinefelter syndrome by its combination of features was Dr. Harry Klinefelter in 1942. The syndrome has become uncommon because many men live their lives without suspecting that they have an extra chromosome. Because of this experts prefer to describe males with an extra chromosome as "XXY males".

Klinefelter syndrome is a chromosomal condition that affects male physical and cognitive development. Meaning that they'll have an abnormal size penis, also they will not produce as much testosterone as a regular boy/man. Statistics estimated that 1 in every 500 to 1000 newborn males have Klinefelter syndrome. This syndrome is actually one of the most common Chromosomal disorders. But varities of Klinefelter are much more rare happening from 1 to 50,000 to 85,000 newborns.

If an individual is born with the condition there is no possible way to change that. The person should start with testosterone replacement therapy. This will help someone with Klinefelter's syndrome develop larger muscles, a deeper voice, growth of the penis, and facial and body hair. It can also help improve bone density and reduce any breast growth.

The next step would be physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Since the guys develop slightly different from other guys they are more likely to have low self-confidence and shyness, which can make their lives harder. A counselor and therapists are also another option.

Klinefelter syndrome is a genetic mutation that happens in the sec chromosomes. It is a syndrome that occurs randomly. The cause of this is because it is a nondisjunction, meaning it happens when there is n error in the cell division process that changes the number of chromosomes. This syndrome is a sex-linked disease that gives an extra X chromosome to the XY chromosomes. Klinefelter is neither a dominant or recessive trait, since it occurs in a nondisjunction rather then inheritance in other genetic chromosomes that it shares with it's parents.
