Hello Everyone!! I am Mico Alain Noble, A second year of Mapua Malayan Colleges Mindanao. Pop Culture in the Philippines has been a staple in my life because I enjoyed experiencing the diverse array of Filipino entertainment, including the vibrant and energetic Pinoy film industry, which includes both timeless and contemporary works of art. Pinoy cinema successfully delivers diverse genres, heartfelt storytelling, and amazing actors and filmmakers. I have been attached to the rhythms of Original Pilipino Music (OPM), which has sincere lyrics, captivating tunes, and melodies that never fail to amaze me. OPM is exceptional at using its songs to evoke deep feelings and deliver gripping tales. Next, the food that I enjoy and love, ranging from classic dishes like adobo, lechon, sisig, and many more. Desserts like halo-halo, taho, and leche flan are some of my favorites. Additionally, the Philippines love the game of basketball(sport), which is the most popular and beloved by Filipinos, and I also enjoy playing the game. Lastly, Radio has a special place in our hearts because it is available to everyone. Radio continues to be one of the most accessible sources of entertainment and information in a nation as diverse as ours. These are all I can say about my interest in Philippine Pop Culture, and I am proud as a Filipino to experience all of this.

To honor the rich history of Filipino illustrated stories, I would love to highlight Philippine Komiks on my Padlet. For many years, Philippine pop culture has been significantly influenced by komiks, a distinctive fusion of comics and art. They have given local authors and artists a stage to display their ability while telling stories that appeal to the Filipino public. Komiks have cultivated a feeling of national identity with famous characters like Darna and Pido from Kulafu. To demonstrate the development of this style of art, I would use eye-catching cover art, antiquated panels, and modern adaptations. It would enable the viewers to understand the rich heritage and continuing importance of Philippine Komiks.

Komiks: Theory

The Carnival Theory offers an informative framework to comprehend the transforming effects of komiks, a well-liked genre of illustrated literature, in the context of current Philippine popular culture. Komiks, which challenges conventional standards and promotes inclusion via its lively and diverse storytelling, is an example of this idea. Komiks provides a venue for underrepresented voices to be heard via creative narrative and visually stunning visuals. Characters challenge cultural biases about gender, race, and socioeconomic status by eschewing common tropes.

Furthermore, by examining the demands and motives of the audience, the Uses and Gratifications Theory provides insightful information on how komiks effect change. Komiks have developed beyond traditional print media in the modern era and have found a new home in digital platforms and social media. Instead of merely being passive readers, audiences interact with komiks by expressing their interpretations and participating in online debates. With readers actively participating, komiks become a social experience where readers enjoy the stories themselves as well as the conversations and friendships that develop around them. Online communities enable readers to express their opinions, question society conventions, and engage in group discussions that may result in greater social change.
