I really liked the story. I think there are a lot of ways to relate it to my on life. A lot of times people or society tries to simplify life, or see it from one perspective when they should actually see things together to understand the big picture. Not everything has to be one thing or the other; it can be multiple things at once.
When I think about my identity I feel that sometimes I felt like I was not fully connected to all the different backgrounds that I have and that if i was embracing one part of my culture then I had to leave behind the other parts of my cultures. But, I realize that I could embrace all of my cultures like Kimmerer embraced indigenous and western botany.

I enjoyed reading Asters and Goldenrod. After some time, I found that I was able to connect the story with my own life. Like the story, I found although there are multiple sides, or perspectives, I always end up finding the path I'm following, is a path that isn't open to other options.
I am similar to the girl in the story, it's as though I can't tell specific aspects of my life, as I grew up into a world that looked at nature as beauty, and understanding that our culture, our nature, has a purpose. I lost my way from my culture, and the path I was supposed to walk down. I was unaware that I lost it, until I am put through a ceremony, then it dawns on me, I want to find my way back.
