Spolek shromáždil metodou orální historie zaznamenaná svědectví bývalých politických vězňů a vězeňkyň, a tuto problematiku se snaží různými způsoby popularizovat. Mimo jiné vydal několik publikací a obnovil naučnou stezku Jáchymovské peklo v Jáchymově.

Die ehrenamtliche Initiative Političtí vězni.cz [Politische Gefangene.cz] ist ein nicht gewinnorientiertes Nicht-Regierungs-Projekt, das die Erinnerungen und die Lebenserfahrungen von ehemaligen politischen Gefangenen, von Augenzeugen und Akteuren historischer Ereignisse auf ethische Weise festhalten und bewahren soll. Ziel des Projekts ist es zu dokumentieren und die Lebensgeschichten von ehemaligen politischen Gefangenen, PTP-Arbeitern [Technische Hilfsstandarten] sowie deren Familienangehöriger in der breiten Öffentlichkeit auf gut zugängliche Form bekannt zu machen.
