The environment of living things has shifted drastically, calling for the adaptation of creatures and providing variety between species all over the globe. This leads to different species possessing different abilities that benefit them in different ways, and give humans inventive ideas on ways to improve inventions and make life easier. Because it is not uncommon for one species to split into two, when species migrate they are forced to adapt and evolve to live in a new, possibly harsher, environment.

Where as a prehistoric mouse relative may have been trying to adapt to a field, another of the same species may have been trying to survive in an area containing cliffs and ridges. The former would need to run fast and be very small, where as the latter would need wings and a method of gliding. Thus, a prehistoric mouse relative evolved into two separate groups, bats and mice
.

Because mice were forced apart and forced to adapt to different places, scientists have come to a conclusion that this can very much change their DNA, and that these forced separations were the causes.
