This quarter was dominated by natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons. In addition, we were taught about astronomy. For the first few weeks, we learned about the earth's strata as well as earthquakes and faults. It also informed me that there were faults close to our area that I was unaware of. The earthquake, typhoon, and fault lessons taught me what to do if an earthquake or typhoon strikes. We studied astronomy in weeks 5 and 6. I learned the distinction between meteors, meteorites, and meteoroids. I also learned about the superstitions surrounding comets and asteroids.

I utilized what I learned in week one by knowing the faults near my area and what to do if an earthquake hits. In week 2, I will use this to learn about the conditions in earthquake-affected areas. It made me more conscious of indications before, during, and after a typhoon that may aid me in this position in weeks 3 and 4. The teachings from the third and fourth weeks made me more aware of what to do and preventive precautions to take in the event of a typhoon. We were also tasked with creating our own emergency pack, which would contain all of the necessities that we would require. In weeks 5 and 6, I was very intrigued with our topic regarding astronomy. For starters, I got to learn about the people that studied and contributed to it. I was also convinced that superstitions concerning comets and asteroids are believed in because of traditions but they do not have a scientific basis. Now, I am more educated about the topic that may be tackled when I am in a higher grade level.

I would like to learn about the topics that are related to astronomy like dwarf planets, black holes, and Curiosity rovers. I also want to learn more about earth-sized planets, the big bang theory, and auroras. I like how Ms. Genel teaches her students especially when it comes to recitations. She wouldn’t call out students to answer her questions but would only let the students participate on their own. She presents the concepts in a really lively manner, and her teaching approach is quite easygoing, yet it will keep you interested in the conversation. For me, I appreciate the way she teaches, but I wish the conversation would be a bit slower since there are instances where I don't comprehend the lesson because it's moving too quickly.
