THIS SONG FITS BECAUSE The song is about facing challenges and proving yourself, just like Steve is trying to do in court. He constantly is trying to prove that he is a good person and that he was not part of this terrible "mistake" but because of the law and who he was hanging around with, he is in some serious trouble.

I picked the scene where Steve is with his mom and gets arrested for being involved with the crime.

This song fits because this song is talking about how someday they will make it out here, even if it takes all night or a hundred years."* And Steve was just arrested but he will make it out soon.

I picked the scene where Steven is writing in his journal and is expressing his feelings about how he doesn't belong and that hes a bad but hes not and he knows that.

QUOTE: " I want to open my shirt and tell her to look into my heart and see who i really am."

This songs fits with this scene because he argues with him self that hes bad person, he doesn't want to be there, he shouldn't have done that but he knows deep down that hes not a bad person and that he wants to show people that hes not but others dont believe him which makes him think bad of himself. The song that I choose describes how a person thinks bad about themselves and what is wrong with them and that is exactly what Steven is going through.

I picked the scene where Steve is holding up tapes of his editing and he's starting with a new section of the tapes.

This song fits because it relates to the topic about him getting arrested and going to prison at such a young age and him not feeling the world since he got arrested at a young age.

"I try to be everything that i can but sometimes i come out as being nothing". That specific verse can relate to the book being called "Monster" because no matter what he tries to change about himself or how people look at him, people still and will always look at him as a monster for what he did

I picked page 12 and the scene is where Steve and them are robbing the store and where Mr. Nesbitt dies.

The song fits the page and scene because it's called the burglar song and it's about someone robbing something and in the scene the robbing the store and killed Mr.Nesbitt.

I picked the scene where Steve is talking with his dad and he is getting support from him. He is telling Steve that everything would be all right and that he would be back home soon.

This songs fits because it only talks about how important family is and how they would be there until the end. This can relate back to Steve where he is getting all the support of his Father and his father is not leaving his side even tho he is not in the best position of his life he is still supporting him no matter what.

I pick the scene 70 where Steves dad had a meeting with Steve. And in the scene it states that Steve thinks that his dad thinks bad of him and he is a bad guy like a "monster". Because Ms. O'Brien said that the judge thinks he is a bad guys just like the rest of them.

This songs fits because, it's a spiritual and political song about liberation. The political world is judging and saying Steve is the same as the bad guys, but Steve keeps on going trying to prove that he is innocent.

Scene:I chose the scene when Steve is being taken away and handcuffed by the officer.

This song fits because in the begginning of the song they talk about a child being separate from their parents and it relates to what's going on in that scene.

I picked the page 58 when the guy is talking about how much time he might be sentenced with.

This song fits because the song was talking about being on double bond and not getting out

I chose this song because it shows Steve dad talking about what he would dream of Steve.

I picked page 68 due to the scene where Steve and his dad are sitting down talking and his dad is really supportive towards him.

This song fits the scene well because its all about the support of family and how there will be there no mater what.

I picked page 70, were Steve's dad comes and visits him, steve says ; "Its like a man looking down to see his son and seeing a monster."

I'm so gifted at findin' what I don't like the most" - Lyrics speaks of the feeling of being judged or blamed.

Runaway by Kanye West and Monster by Walter Dean Myers both deal with being judged by others. In Runaway, Kanye talks about feeling misunderstood while in Monster, Steve is seen as a criminal, even though he's unsure of who really is. Both express the struggle between how people see you and who you really are.

I choose this song becuase it is about being locked up and because in the song it said "I got a family that loved me and wants me to do it right" this direct quote reminded me of the scene where steve and his father were talking about how he had imagined his life when he still a baby

and how he had never thought of his kid being locked up.

I chose this song because it is about lonely and alone. This reminded me of Steve because in page 60, Steve says "How can you scare me when I go to bed everyday terrified out of my mind? Everybody else in here scares me." In jail he has no one to talk to and truly is lonely in jail.

I choose this song to match the scene when steve is coming into the courtroom wearing handcuffs and his lawyer asks are these necessary. There is a part in the song it says "Walk in court in them shackles, see my mama, her eyes tearin¨. This goes with the book because he as cuffs on and in one scene his mom is crying telling the police to wait for her.
