These are often very strongly held beliefs and they are often for something or against it.&nbsp;<br>Values are reflected in the responsibilities, rights and privileges of being a British citizen or permanent resident of the UK.<br><br>2. Some of the UK values<br>- the rule of law<br>- the sovereignty of the Crown in Parliament<br>- tolerance<br>- personal freedom<br>- free speech and freedom of expression<br>- belief in private property<br>- institutions<br>- history and culture<br>- love of sport and of fair play<br>- patriotism</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>DEFINITION OF "VALUES"<br>- What is right and wrong.<br>- What is important in life.<br>- Be reflected in the responsibilities, rights and privileges of being a British citizen or permanent resident of the UK.<br>- According to politicians, value is tolerance, freedom, belief in personal responsibility, mutual respect and fairness.<br>- According to the government, it became more a practical guide to living in Britain and what the entitlements of citizenship might bring.<br><br>CORE VALUES OF THE BRITISH<br>1. Rule of Law:&nbsp;<br>- We all abide by the same rules.<br>2. Sovereignty of the Crown in Parliament:<br>- The Lords, the Commons and the monarch constitute the supreme authority.<br>3. Tolerance:<br>- No one should be treated differently on the basis of belonging to a particular group.<br>4. Personal freedom and a presumption against state coercion.<br>5. Free speech and freedom of expression.<br>6. Private property and the freedom to buy and sell without fear of confiscation<br>7. Institutions that are quintessentially British and capture and reflect its character<br>- Including the monarchy, the Armed Forces, the Church and the BBC.<br>8. History and culture.<br>- "A lack of understanding of the past is instrumental in a failure to comprehend the present."<br>9. Sport and of fair play.<br>10. Patriotism<br><br></div>]]></description>
