         <description><![CDATA[<div>It is common to see Australian artists put on a fake American accent in order to succeed in the American market.&nbsp;<br>I respect the integrity Silverchair showed by retaining their accents and remaining true to their roots.&nbsp;<br>It makes me hopeful for future Australian music; if we don't have to change our identities to succeed, we may yet create a music industry that reflects our unique experiences and viewpoints. To be truly represented in the world of music could foster a sense of identity within our industry and culture.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>in the text <em>Breaking Australian music overseas,</em> Kay shows statistics:<br>- 85% of music bought in Australia is from overseas artists.<br>- Australian music bought within this country is only 2% of world music sales.<br>This presents a problem for everyone in this industry; our music is not being heard!&nbsp;<br>To bring more Australian music into the world, we must break into overseas markets, but often to do that, artists must Americanise and therefore loose part of their identity.&nbsp;<br>Speaking to Josh Pyke several years ago at Macquarie University, it was his opinion that his refusal to adopt an American accent that prevented larger success in his career.<br>J.
