With her held held down, with the bright screen shining in her eyes, her focus on her phone is quite addicting. Without studying to prepare for exams, the student had a blank brain. As tears began dripping down her face while holding a piece of paper, I knew something was wrong. I asked what was wrong but no response was made, instead she busted out even more tears than usual. Throughout many situations, kids, teens, and even adults are addicted to the internet while effecting 3 main courses in life: emotions, education and the ability to reveal their own identity.

First of all, social media could affect your education. According to Kristen Lewis’s article, “Are you a screen Addict?”, she states, “...teens who spend excessive time in front of a screen are most likely to get lower grades.” The author thinks that the disadvantage to social media could affect your grades and prevent you from your success in education. This is crucial because it prevents students from learning the major courses in school. Not only that but they could also be daydreaming about social media during school instead of paying attention to what the teacher is explaining. Moreover, it could also cause the decrease in the amount of sleep leaving students exhausted the next school day in which they would have less power to think. Therefore social media has the ability to effect the amount of sleep you have leaving you with decreasing grades.

In addition, screen addiction could also effect your emotional health. In spite of emotions, it could cause people to struggle with their behaviors. According to the CSU article by Melissa Healy, it states, "Those who struggle with depression or with aggressive behaviors are more likely to find the online world to be full of digital landmines." The author believes that aggressive behaviors could lead to bullying. This is crucial because bullying isn't something that should be made causing others to feel down in a certain way. For example, If someone commented something unreal and people take it seriously, it could cause trouble and could hurt the person in such a way. In addition, depression or aggressive behaviors could effect emotional health leaving people in hurtful moments.

Lastly, screen addition could lead teens to realizing their identity. When teens are on social media, they have to think of what they are going to post before posting. To back up this statement, the video on "Teens and Social Networking" at 0:48, it states, "Make sure you know what you are doing before posting personal information." This statement is very crucial because if teens post personal information about themselves on social media, they are most likely to be exposed. With a small amount of information, people are likely to go into teens social media accounts and read every single message or posts. With that being said, screen addiction could cause you to reveal your own identity of who you are.

In conclusion, screen addiction could effect emotional health, education, and the ability to reveal teens identity due to the amount of time they spend on social media. Social media could prevent teens from getting the amount of sleep they should be having, a way to get into bullying, and least exercise, and a way to reveal their own identity. In addition, teens shouldn't always be on the internet whether it's talking to friends, playing games, or texting. Instead, they should find some other fun activities to do or limit the amount of time on the internet.
