My family has shaped who I am today. We are very close, and also visit our extended family as much as possible. As the baby of the family, I try to keep everyone laughing. Now that my cousins have started to have babies, I get to play with them and show them all of our favorite traditions. My sister is my hero, and she is currently in her final year of medical school. My parents both work in IT, and are our biggest cheerleaders. We love cooking together, playing card and board games, and of course sharing our Wordle results every day in our group chat.

My Cats!

I love animals! I have grown up with cats and dogs throughout my entire life, and can't imagine life without pets. Currently, I have two cats: Olly (brown) and Leonard (orange). I got Olly in 2018, when I was taking a year off from school. My family wasn't looking for any new cats, but Olly quickly won over our hearts and we were excited to learn more about Bengal cats, as we had never owned one before. Olly is extremely loving and playful - he loves to run up behind you and tap your legs as you walk by. As a bengal, he is very large though, and occasionally scares people, including my grandma, who said "I'm not sure what that is, but it is not a normal cat" the first time she saw him. After moving to Fayetteville, I worried that Olly would miss having a cat friend to hang out with, so I started to look at the animal shelter's website. There, I found Leonard, the last of a group of kittens that had all been adopted, leaving him and his crooked tail behind. I just had to save him, and after bringing him home, Olly quickly took him under his wing. Leo's favorite thing is playing fetch with toy mice and ponytail holders. He and Olly are constantly up to mischief, but they love each other and are two peas in a pod.

My Violin

I have been playing violin for over ten years now, and my fondest memories and lifelong friends are all connected to orchestra somehow. Orchestra introduced me to some of the most intelligent people I have ever met, and showed me what an exciting experience making music can be. I still speak to friends and teachers from orchestra, and love that music was able to bring us together. I love the violin, but love even more the joy that can be found as a result of music. Currently, I am a member of the University of Arkansas Symphony. I am enjoying the opportunity to make new friends and explore music further as I pursue my teaching degree. I teach violin lessons as a side job, and previously worked with strings camps for young orchestra students as well. Playing an instrument has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I would encourage everyone to find a hobby that introduces them to new friends, experiences, and even career options.

Two of my closest friends are actually siblings that I met in High School orchestra. We have been inseparable for almost ten years now, and do almost everything together. We love planning getaways to new places, shopping, and making playlists of our favorite music (Taylor Swift). Matthew is the oldest of the three of us, and recently graduated with a Master's in Interior Architecture, and Ashley and I are both working towards our Master's in Childhood Education. Currently, we are planning our trip to Kansas City to see Matthew's new home. From there, who knows! I'm blessed to have an extra family that supports and loves me the way they do.
