         <description><![CDATA[<p>Societal pressures have become increasingly intensified due to the endless AI generated photos, editing apps, normalization of plastic surgery and the idea of perfecting flaws, resulting in unrealistic beauty standards. Dove, a well-known beauty brand created in 1957 for rejuvenating healthy skin, has made a stand on these prevalent issues. In 2004, studies revealed only 2% of women feeling comfortable and beautiful in their own skin. Shortly after these sad statistic Dove launched their campaign for <em>Real Beauty. </em>Dove highlights women of many body shapes, sizes, skin types, age, and ethnicities rather than the typically narrow group of women often seen on television screens or walkways. &nbsp;Dove’s vision encourages women to be confident and happy within their skin while creating real and/or healthy beauty standards.</p><p><br></p><p>Thesis: </p><p>By analyzing Dove’s “ Real beauty”&nbsp; as a rhetorical artifact, their campaign holds an impact and powerful message as it challenges the traditional and unrealistic beauty standards society often places on women. Their campaign evokes raw emotion as they connect with the audience and the importance of embarrassing what makes us unique. Similarity, their mission obtains logos and ethos as they gain credibility through the use of utter passion and&nbsp;factual reasoning behind their campaign. Altogether, Dove’s use of rhetorical appeals redefines the society's view of beauty and instills self-worth in women around the world.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Topic 2: Role of AI and technology in shaping Beauty standards. </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Throughout the years technology has been vastly increasing where celebrities and influencers are heavy looked up to. With such exposure to technology the internet often portrays unrealistic lifestyles and puts pressure on viewers to fit those unrealistic standards and is damaging. Dove's self-esteem project elaborates the sad truth on how media and artificial intelligence are programmed to recognize beauty while urging the need for change.</p><p><br></p><p>This powerful and touching artifact displays women asking artificial intelligence to imagine a " Beautiful women".  When searching for a beautiful women the internet portrays what is thought to be perfect- flawless skin, perfect physique, and luxurious hair. When the same question is asked  according to Dove the search showcases realistic, strong, beautiful women with abdundent diversity.  As viewers we are struck with the question, “ What kind of beauty do we want AI to learn?” evoking emotion as images showcase different ethnicities, skin types, models of many sizes, and a happy mother and daughter. Overall, Dove's campaign is slowly installing real beauty within women that will carry on to generations to come and emphasizing what is truly important, love!</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Dove's mission is the focal point behind their brand that aims to redefine beauty standards and challenges the unrealistic perceptions of beauty often displayed throughout media platforms. Their slogan " Keeping beauty real" is important in promoting realistic beauty without any discrimination to what society has deemed unacceptable. Through their campaigns they are committed to showcasing all misrepresented women as they are now being accepted and able to promote their unique differences confidently. For two decades Dove's impactful campaigns have rose awareness in the importance of diversity, unhealthy standards portrayed on mainstream media, challenging stereotypes, and setting a precedent for generations to come to be happy in their skin.  Further creating a safe space for women who can feel empowered!</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Every company and brand is always held under stipulation and debate on the validity and/or trustworthiness behind what they are selling. Some may argue brands use of inspiring individuals is a marketing strategy to sell products and make their brand seem more about the customers while undermining the profit gained. Although advertising strategies exist, Dove is passionate on their vision and goal to instill confidence in all women. With years of building their campaign they show resilience as they try to reach their goal to redirect beauty standards. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>With constant pressure being placed upon women due to  unrealistic standards and constant comparisons has lead to developments of false body images that are very harmful both physically and mentally. Dove's <em>Real beauty sketch</em> campaign shows this and emphasizes the psychological effects by how we view ourselves. Individuals were asked to describe their physical attributes to a professional artist and were then compared to the drawings of outside perspectives, the people they met in the waiting room.</p><p>The difference between the two drawings were quite disturbing. In the drawings from personal descriptions they all exaggerated what they believed made them feel not attractive. When their peers described their features they appeared much nicer and more realistic.
