This disastrous hurricane left more than 100,000 homes completely damaged and only 17% of the affected residents had flood insurance. The amount of damage done has been estimated to exceed the cost of damages from Hurricane Katrina, at $114.5 billion paid on an estimated $160 billion in damages. This causes immense pressure on these populations economically which also effects them mentally.
