She said there was no need for an immediate response but wanted some direction about how to proceed. She said Lilly has been asking for "harder" work in reading and math. She asked about word levels that were sent home and how to know what words came next. She asked if she should talk to you or me or somebody else...she also asked about G&TI am going to respond to her that she should definitely talk to you for guidance and I am also going to suggest to,her that she log into Lilly's account where she can view next steps for Lilly. Regarding G&T. I will let her know that we do a formal screening grade 3 and she can talk to Kristi Curtis about that process if she would like. All of this information is in our EMPOWER system. I believe you have your parent login for,that system but if not, let me know and I can get one for you. Regarding your question about G&T, we have a formal screening process that happens in grade 3 for all students. Kristi Curtis is our staff person in charge of that. She said she was board in class. I inquired further on the matter asking her what was going on. She said her math work is too easy, she wants harder subtraction, more fractions & she already knows tally marks. I asked if she had any concerns in other subjects, she said her reading is too easy the assignments & books given to her she already knows all the words & she wants to learn more words. Lilly requested I speak to the school about all this. We had this happen in K & it resulted in her leaving class daily to go to First grade for math. Last year I didn't run in to the I'm board problem so nothing was altered/different then the usual. I asked Mrs. McGovern about gifted & talented of which it's 3rd grade until they accept children. I'd be happy to help out any way I possibly can. Lilly loves the science that you do she raves & repeats all science done all the time. Not certain how to go about all of this. Email is efficient for me however, I do have Friday off this week from work if you want to meet up about this. Just let me know what I can do to help in this matter. I will see about allergy testing for sure. Aaron had mentioned to put him in the back of the class room, also for him to be seated. With that being said he does have a 504 in place from Union that was from March of the past school year. I am not sure if you ever received his records. In that plan I am not 100% sure but think he is to have a "special" kind of seat. I am not thinking of the name of it off hand, I will see if I can find my copy. If this is not able to be purchased through the school we will supply one if possible. We know this will not solve the issue at hand but might help. I also will be sending him in tomorrow with his gum and possibly giving him some kind of fidget to handle. Last year he had clay which seemed to work. I will be looking into scented oils as well and see if this might help. Trying anything is better then doing nothing.Lets give this a try and in the meantime I will be in touch as I said with his physician as well.
