There are even dialects of Mandarin, such as Wu, Gan, Xiang, Min. It's almost impossible to learn all these different dialects and communicate fluently with the natives. One good thing is that since Mandarin is the official language, nowadays you can basically talk to everybody in Mandarin, if they don't know what you are talking about, don't be disappointed in yourself, let me teach you a strategy: use Google Translate or whatever weird tools and websites to find how to pronounce one specific word in all Chinese dialects and languages. Next time you came face to face with someone who don't know Mandarin, just call them a failure. They dumplings, noodles, steamed stuffed buns, glutinous rice balls, wonton, mooncake for Middle Autumn Festival, zongzi for Dragon Boat Festival, ice cake. The invention of dumpling occurred when Zhang returned to his ancestral village during the winter, after a long absence. He noticed that many of his citizens were suffering from frostbite, mostly around their ears. As an attempt to solve this problem, Zhang cooked up a batch of mutton, chili and healing herbs and wrapped them in scraps of dough. He folded the dumplings like little ears, boiled them and delivered them out to his afflicted neighbors. Some popular food young love to eat are Beijing Roasted Duck. Kung Pao Chicken. Hot Pot.
