         <description><![CDATA[<div>-The FTC is responsible for monitoring false claims developed by manufacturers and distributors of health and medical products. <br>-In 1999, the FTC created bogus websites selling miracle drugs.  The screens described the miraculous effects of the products and urged customers to buy them.  When the costumer clicks on the the page to make the payment, a screen pops up and explains the website was developed by the FtC and is selling nonexistent products. <br>-The was an innovative way to use the internet to educate consumers about dangers of purchasing from unknown websites. <br>-According to the Washington Post, the FTC visited about 800 cites over a 2 year period that contained questionable medical or health claims. </div>]]></description>
