The media has spread throughout the twentieth century with origins in the previous century, but there are examples in different ages related to the need to give representations or to associate texts with images. During prehistoric times cave paintings used images to tell hunting reports, daily life or certain ideas or desires. In the necropolis of Saqqara appears the funerary chapel dedicated to the architect Ankhmahor, where the representations are interspersed with inscriptions that, in addition to describing the subjects depicted, also report the dialogues between the latter.

Since the years two thousand and especially since the '10s, with the development of the Internet and the market has recorded a significant decrease in sales. In this period webcomics are born, characterized by a more direct contact between the author and the public, since these are generally self-produced without any intermediary. Generally amateur level, some authors manage to become famous enough to go to paper, like One-Punch Man. In South Korea a website specialized in the publication of online comics was created, which, as a niche distributor in manhwa, with the success of some of his publications such as Noblesse and Tower of God, manages to break through internationally publishing comics especially in English. by authors from all over the world and becoming, in fact, one of the world's largest comic book distributors. According to the data provided at the Chicago comics & entertaiment expo the most widely read superhero comic in the United States is an Ordinary, distributed right on the Webtoon online platform.

Considered the father of Italian comics, the Milanese scriptwriter founded the Redazione Audace in 1940, or the publishing house that today we all know as Sergio Bonelli Editore.
Gianluigi creates together with Aurelio Galleppini (better known as Galep) the immortal Western comics series Tex, the most famous and longest-known Italian comics of all time. The first edition comes out in 1948 and today has 686 published books.
Gianluigi, and in general the Bonelli family, are the cornerstones for Italian and international comics: the Tex run in Brazil is really a little lower than Italy, and the publishing house sells about 500,000 copies a month of regular series.

Diabolik is an imaginary comic book character, created in 1962 by Angela Giussani and protagonist of the homonymous magazine published by the Milanese publishing house Astorina. In a short time it reached high runs becoming a phenomenon of custom specialized by sociologists and communication experts. The past of the genre of the black comic was the forerunner generating some epigones starting from 1964, when the phenomenon exploded, published in the characteristic pocket booklet format that the headline became famous and imitated after making its debut in November 1962; it has since been published without interruptions and has exceeded the 800 published numbers; the first issues of the series have reached high prices in the collectors market. The character then had a film adaptation in 1968 live by the director Mario Bava, a series of cartoons and a vast merchandising. The editions have been published in many European, American, and African countries.

The first step is to create the story, a plot that binds the drawings on the pages. In the writing of the screenplay the vignettes are described in detail, choosing the type of framing, the size and every detail that is fundamental to the narration.
Once the written part has been completed, the pages must be organized. We proceed by sketching our pages on a sheet. Inside, the vignettes and their contents are drawn in outline. Once the sketch of the page satisfies us (this may require numerous attempts) we enlarge the draft, by hand or with a photocopier and we draw all the details. The last step is to inking and, if necessary, coloring. If you want you can add shadows and / or other details.
