Katie wants to travel because she is always looking at National Geographic’s and loves to get post cards from friends and family. Katie’s dad isn’t part of her life and she didn’t know him, this tells me she didn’t really have a father figure in her life.  Katie’s mother was once a dancer. Katie’s uncle runs a newspaper, this means he is rich which wasn’t common during this time.  and she loves helping print and correct spelling errors, her uncle gave her the name “Word Girl”. Katie got very intreasted in the Trial and convinced her mom to let her go to the trial. 
1.) My Question is Why is Katie so obsessed with the trial?
2.)Did Katie’s father have to do with the reason Katie loves to travel?
3.) Why would someone kidnapp a baby and murder it for money? 
Thoughts : I don’t think they caught the right man
1) yes the handwriting was the same but as the lawyer stated all German people spell the same letters/words the same way. 
2) if he had the money note he might of been a setup/a cover of what really happened. 
3) I get this weird vibe when I look at the billing recipes and why they want money in a certain amount of bills, it all lines up with something but I can’t seem to figure out what.

What also makes this book interesting was that it was in Katie's perspective-a fictional character-rather than in Charles A. Lindberg's point of view.
Questions-How did NO ONE hear the baby being kidnapped? Breaking through a window definitely sounds loud. Wouldn't he have woken up with all the noise? Also, what exactly happened to Katie's dad? 
Epiphanies- Maybe the baby kidnapper felt restless like Katie, and wanted to kidnap and kill the baby for not only money, but also to bring up some excitement in the town...even though murdering babies is not the way to do it.

Also, I'm seriously questioning how quietly that baby seems to have gone. He should have screamed his head off at both being woken up by a storm and by some stranger trying to hold him or really anyone trying to hold him, since he was almost 2.

Colonel Schwarzkopf is interrogating Hauptmann, all the letters match up with ransom money note. Hauptmann had the same paper as the one that the Lindbergh' had payed for there child.  There are so many news reporters all waiting to publish there news papers on if Hauptmann will go to the electric chair. The jury found Hauptmann guilty. I think that Katie is sad that her city is now noisy but also happy that it's not plan boring. The court room is so packed and I imagine it smells awful. They see Charlie's Lindbergh walk in and he is handsome but then Hauptmann comes and he's ugly.  I think that the baby was moving a lot when trying to move the ladder and the person carrying him got nervous and instead of trying to keep the baby safe he/she just dropped it instead.
Q: Why would they leave the ladder there? 
Why would they sell souvenir's?

T: All the radios are broadcasting the trial that probably means that everyone know about the trial. Flemington has been turned into Hollywood, which I think would be kinda cool seeing all the stars.  The Boxcars once carried supplies but now they are filled with people travailing because they don't have a home to go too.  The words and letters of Hauptman's writing matched perfectly with the ransom note. Everyone is bored I would be too just listening sitting in a hot room.  I think Katie is enjoying the trial but is also getting "bored" because she feels the ne to write everything down. I don't think that Katie like's Mr. Griffin because he is gonna replace her real dad.

I also feel bad for Mr. Hauptmann because his lawyer won't even have a reliable witness. The lawyer won't even visit him an prison! I also find it really interesting how Katie is so caught up in the trial, she is even having dreams about being with Charles A. Lindbergh. I also find it fascinating that there were still Civil War vets ( I hadn't realized how close together history was).

Though I guess it's like all books in that way. They tell you something huge and then the chapter or part or book just ends. I also again think that it's very interesting to read the background plot line of this girl who is going through so much at this point in history and who is getting to see and be part of so much history. There isn't a lot of character development in this book but I think that there could be with the background plot line of her having to learn to accept that her mother needs Mr. Griffin to be happy. I think it's really good that she's been trying to think about how Colonel Lindbergh is feeling right now with all of this. I wonder what would have happened if Hauptmann had a better lawyer.
