Battle of Bataan
January 7, 1942 - April 9, 1942
The Battle of Bataan was a fight against the Imperial Japanese army and U.S/ Philippine army. Soldiers being led by General Douglas McArthur held Bataan for 4 months while other islands and nations in the Pacific and Southeast Asia was being invaded by the Japanese. By March 1942 Japan controlled Western Pacific area except for Philippines. The Generals plan was to hold Bataan and wait for the U.S navy reinforcement and defeat the army from the north of the island and go from there to Japan and defeat them. Though the attack on Pearl Harbor had a big impact on his plan. With the Harbor bombed no one is capable to drive a ship to Bataan. Without reinforcements and supplies the Army had to live with half rations in the tropical jungle. They held out and defeated incoming invasions from the coast line of the island, but without supplies their lines broke. The 17,000 American and 63,000 Filipino troops had probably either had deceases, lost half of their weight, or had died from starvation by the time General McArthur surrendered. Though that wasn't the end. Those who didn't want to surrender hid in the jungle and would join the Guerrilla resistance later on. Those who stayed were put into groups and walked 65 miles into the Tarlac province. Between 7,000 to 10,000 died during the death march, but no one really knows the exact numbers since if a man falls it's a bullet that comes after that. When they reached the former Philippine Army camp that could house 10,000 men. The Japanese cramed the 60,000 survivors inside the camp. Few days after they moved the American soldiers into another camp in Canabatuan. By the time reinforcements came more than 50,000 Filipino POW's had died though the American didn't have anything better they were taken back to Japan to be made as slave laborers. Most of them died during the trip to Japan from multiple deceases.

DATE: June 19-20, 1994
LOCATION: The Philippine Sea
RESULTS: American Victory

The Battle of the Philippine Sea was a major naval battle of World War II that eliminated the Imperial Japanese Navy's ability to conduct large-scale carrier actions. It took place during the United States' amphibious invasion of the Mariana Islands during the Pacific War. The battle was the last of five major engagements between American and Japanese naval forces. Although at the time the battle appeared to be a missed opportunity to destroy the Japanese fleet, the Imperial Japanese Navy had lost the bulk of its carrier air strength and would never recover. During the course of the battle, American submarines torpedoed and sank two of the largest Japanese fleet carriers taking part in the battle. This was the largest carrier to carrier battle in history.
